Abstract
Brachial plexus injury following axillary scar release is a rare complication and has not been reported in Korea yet. In the axillary scar contractures, the brachial plexus may be the most vulnerable to injury from stretching because of the brachial plexus shortening. We report two patients who developed a brachial plexus injury following axillary scar release. With awareness of risk factors and the positions which are likely to cause injury to the brachial plexus, careful positioning of the upper extremity can prevent injury and potential disability to the axillary contracture patients.
